Why Use an Optical Spot?
An optical spot is the perfect tool for photographers who need precise control over their lighting. It allows you to focus and shape light with pinpoint accuracy, making it ideal for
highlighting specific details, creating dramatic shadows, or projecting patterns using gobos.
What Sets the Profoto Spot Small Apart?
When it comes to optical spots, the quality of the lens is everything. The Spot Small features a carefully crafted 115 mm lens that ensures the highest light quality, eliminating any artifacts.
With the Spot Small, creative possibilities are endless. You can adjust the sharpness of shadows with the zoomable lens and block parts of the light with integrated leaves. Plus, use it with the Gobo Holder for creating unlimited patterns and the Iris for perfect circular light—no matter the size.
If that’s not enough, the magnetic front of the lens allows you to use it with Profoto Clic Gels and Clic Barndoors, offering even more light-shaping options. The Spot Small can also
be used behind a scrim to create a soft evenly diffused light.
And don’t worry about the modifier getting too hot to handle—the Spot Small stays cool even during extended use thanks to its 360° cooling.

Heat Note:
The Spot Small is compatible with all Profoto 100 mm flashes and has a 360-cooling system to keep the unit from over heating.
However, there are regulatory restrictions for max effect used:
• Flash power: Max 8 x 2400 Ws flashes/min.
• Halogen & HMI: Max 200 W.
• LED: Max 200 W.
These limitation includes safety margins, however, if exceeding these recommendations, the Spot Small risks getting too hot to handle according to regulatory limits for a consumer.
In practice, using it with an up to 300W continuous light will not cause any harm to the products.
For ProHead with 500W halogen, do not use it on full modeling light effect.
For L1600D, continuously using it at a higher power level than stated can melt the front tube.
