Mac Mini Server
On June 16th Apple unveiled a completely redesigned Mac mini, featuring up to twice the graphics performance, a new HDMI port and a new SD card slot, all in an amazingly compact aluminium enclosure.
Mac mini with Snow Leopard Server is specifically designed to be a server. There are two 500GB 7200-rpm hard drives with plenty of storage to help your group work more efficiently. It comes with unlimited client licenses. And you can access and swap files quickly and securely between Mac computers and PCs.
Additional details:
- The new aluminium enclosure applies the unibody construction process pioneered by Apple and features a removable panel underneath for memory upgrades and an integrated power supply to keep cable clutter to a minimum.
- The new NVIDIA GeForce 320M is the fastest integrated graphics processor on the market.
- Mac mini is the world's most energy efficient desktop requiring less than 10W (previously 14W) at idle.
- Mac mini easily connects to existing peripherals, supports dual displays and connects to an HDTV.
- Mac mini now features an SD card slot and supports SDXC, for large capacity cards.
So whilst we don't suggest these are high end imaging machines, the cool thing about the Mac Mini is it's Server configuration. Connect a FireWire storage device (like an 8TB RAID 5 unit) and all of a sudden it becomes an inexpensive but effective central storage for a few users in a studio.
